The name ‘Carrara’ comes from the Aboriginal word Karara, meaning long flat. It’s a suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The southern bank of the Nerang River borders the suburb to the east, and the Pacific Motorway mostly borders it to the west. Carrara is built on the Guragunbah Plain, officially named in 2000 after having previously been unofficially known as the Merrimac-Carrara Flood Plain.
